Field of Service: Montreal

Mission Organization: InterVarsity

Ministry: Originally from Northern Ontario, I (Alenna) now live in Montreal, Quebec serving as a Campus Minister with InterVarsity. I am stationed at Concordia University and Dawson College, and I also resource Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario. Being shaped by God's Word and led by the Holy Spirit, the purpose of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship of Canada is the transformation of youth, students and graduates, in all their ethnic diversity, into fully committed followers of Jesus Christ. I have the privilege of being able to build relationships with students, equipping and encouraging them to build witnessing communities on campus where students of all different backgrounds can come and catch a glimpse of the goodness of God. It is truly a blessing to journey with students as they discover Jesus at such a critical stage in their lives.

October 2022 Update
After a summer filled with many good things - participating in the Quebec Indigenous Partnership, organizing a week-long scripture engagement day camp for high school students with a local church, serving at Camp ABK Teen Coed, connecting with loved ones across the country, and praying and preparing with student leaders for the coming school year - we launched into a very exciting Fall season. There's a new buzz on our campuses, as students are excited to be back together and are eager for a more holistic student experience than they've had in years. We thank God for the increased interest among students in being part of communities seeking to discover and follow Jesus. Students at Dawson College are learning to study the Bible together (some for the first time!) and Concordia University  students are stretching themselves as they learn to love all kinds of people in the ways God does through deepening relationships, service, and bold witness. Laurentian University student leaders are impressed with the opportunities God has given them in the past few weeks for conversations of great depth among fellowship members.

Prayer requests for the month of October:
WEEK 1  Students at Concordia University have been having great conversations with friends about Jesus. Pray that they will have words to say, timely invitations, and that other Christians in the fellowship will join them in being additional influences towards Jesus.
WEEK 2  Concordia University small group is dedicated to volunteering at local organizations together, where they’ll serve while reflecting on their experiences through the lens of Scripture. Pray that they would be attentive to God's work as they join Him in seeking the shalom of their city (Jer. 29:7).
WEEK 3  Many Dawson College students are disenchanted with their experience of Christianity, but are open to exploring Jesus in our community. Pray that they would meet God powerfully in Bible studies and that their experience in the fellowship would be redemptive for them.
WEEK 4  With a large portion of the Laurentian University fellowship having graduated in the Spring, the group is rebuilding. Pray for the students to be rooted in God's love as they take risks to open the gates wide for more peers to enter in.
Thanks so much for praying for us!
